In Memory

Neil Shuster

As reported by Gordon Keit:

I understand that Neil Shuster passed away on July 3rd, 2018. Long story how I found out about his passing. Neil and I talked in the Spring and he was looking forward to coming to the reunion from Florida. Neil and I were very close throughout JHS and HS. Gonna miss him.

I was saddened to read the notice about Neil’s recent passing. Neil and I were pals 100 years ago at PS 173. He was a fun loving kid who always had a big smile on his face. I was hoping to see him again at our 50th reunion, but that is not to be. I extend my sincere condolences to Neil’s family and friends.

I remember Neil from way back. He always had a great smile. Does anyone know if he was ill or was it a sudden passing?

Oh no! Neil lived near me and used to walk home that way- sometimes pulling my pony tail to be mischievous . I was going to remind him when I saw him! He turned into a nice kid with a big smile. Sad to hear this news.

Jane you must have lived near me as well. I was on Utopia Pkwy and Jewel and recall Neil living nearby.

I was on 185th between 67th and 69th.

I think Neil lived around 180th . He would continue walking my way to annoy me. I think I told my mother and she spoke to him and he never did it again. Oh, how I wish I could have a conversation with him. I was looking forward to seeing him, really.

Another PS173/JHS216/FrancisLewis comrade that won't be joining us in person at our reunion. Spent Hebrew School time with him as well at Utopia Jewish Center. He lived near the expressway around 183rd? Kept having     both Neil's, Shuster & Schrager throughout the school years. Regards be with his family.

So sad about his passing.   Fondly remembering him as I was another PS 173, JHS 216, FLHS graduate and lived on Utopia!   Remember all of you posting on this page and will see you soon.
