I learned of Mike's passing at our 40th class reunion. I was shocked and saddened by the loss. Mike and I knew each other through the track team; he was a supremely talented runner. Me, not so much. We also were in the FLHS band as members of the 4th clarinet section. Neither of us demonstrated much musical talent there but we had fun and kept each other laughing. I understand Mike passed while on duty with the NY Police Department. If someone knows different please correct me if I'm wrong. Either way, I respect him for his service to the community. Condolenses to his friends and family.
Thanks, Irwin, for your nice note (shown above) about Arthur (Mike). While I did not know him that well, I do remember how fast a runner he was, with his impressive long strides, as he ran around the track for the Lewis team. And while it appears that Mike passed away some time ago, it saddens me whenever I am reminded of a classmate's death.....especially as we approach our 50th reunion! Rest in peace.
I'm told I was incorrect about the circumstances of Arthur Young's death. Apparently he was victim of a car accident which had nothing to do with the police department. I apologize for the error.
